Our Vancouver Roofing Services

Eco Friendly Roofing Vancouver

We offer sustainable roofing options like EnviroShake, Malarkey Ecoasis shingles, and composite systems that reduce waste without sacrificing performance. A strong fit for Vancouver homeowners who want durability, energy efficiency, and lower environmental impact.

Laminated Architectural Shingles Vancouver

Asphalt shingles are still one of Metro Vancouver’s most practical roofing choices. We install premium products from Malarkey, CertainTeed, and IKO, then match the right shingle to your home’s pitch, exposure, and budget.

Metal Roofing Vancouver

Our standing seam and snap-lock metal roofs are built for decades of Vancouver rain, coastal wind, and snow loads. Metal reflects heat, sheds moss well, and adds strong curb appeal for character homes, modern builds, and Vancouver properties.

TPO Flat Roofing Vancouver

Flat roofs in Vancouver need proper drainage and strong waterproofing. We install modern flameless membrane systems built to seal tightly, drain correctly, and protect Vancouver Specials, townhomes, rooftop decks, and low-slope roof areas.

Rooftop of home with custom cedar shingles

Western Red Cedar gives Vancouver homes a natural, timeless look. We use sustainably sourced BC cedar and install it with the workmanship needed for long-term performance on heritage homes, character houses, and other properties.

Vancouver Roof Repairs

Small leaks can become serious damage fast in Vancouver. We repair leaks, storm damage, flashing issues, aging shingles, and other roof problems, with honest advice on whether repair or replacement makes the most sense.

Euro Half Round Gutters Vancouver

Seamless gutters help protect your roof, siding, foundation, and landscaping from water damage. We fabricate custom-fit gutters on-site and install standard, half-round European, and internal gutter systems.

metal roof with solar panels

Roof replacement is the right time to consider solar. We install solar panels and solar-ready roofing systems that integrate cleanly with your roof while helping you understand rebates, and payback, and long-term value available to Vancouver homeowners.

A Vancouver Roofing Company. Roofing Greater Vancouver since 2008

Eco Exteriors was founded in 2008 by Douglas Jackson — a North Shore resident who grew up watching Vancouver homes get beaten down by rain and understaffed by roofers who didn’t know the difference between coastal exposure and interior BC conditions.

Doug started the company with a straightforward idea: Vancouver homeowners deserved roofing options that matched both the city’s climate demands and its growing commitment to sustainability. Eighteen years later, that idea has turned into hundreds of completed projects across Vancouver, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Burnaby, Coquitlam, and Richmond.

I’m located in Burnaby and I needed to upgrade my roof. There are options but I decided to go with Eco Exteriors due to a friend’s recommendation. I replaced my old roof with a metal roof which turned out beautifully and will last longer than the other options. Eco Exteriors has great service and a skilled installation team. I would definitely recommend them for anybody looking for roof or solar solutions.

Great trustworthy local company to work with. The owner Doug set us up with the estimate in the Fall. Knowing that we could run out of good weather, we were fine with deferring until the Spring. As promised, his team delivered at the first dry week. Rada was the onsite lead and completed the roof (1500 square feet) in 5 days with one day of bad weather in between. A week later, the gutter guy came by to finish the job. He was clearly seasoned as he did it on his own; very professional and courteous. Doug was communicative throughout even with the weather related delays in between. We have experienced many contractors good and bad so it’s refreshing to work with someone who delivers on budget, on time, and as promised.

After taking the morning off work, I was called 45 mins before the appointment and was told he couldn't make it because it was raining and it was too dangerous to go on the roof. He then asked if we could book for the next day - without any concern about the weather. Hmmmm.

1. If I was told this, I would have looked at the weather before making the appointment. 2. I called two other roofing companies and both showed up had no problem going on the roof in the rain.

He gets two stars because he actually called to cancel. (The bar is set low with trades these days.)

Top quality craftsmanship by an friendly and competent team.

The affect a new roof has on the curb appeal of your house is enormous, not to mention the comfort you gain knowing that everything is watertight for the oncoming winter - you need the installation done right. Doug, Rada and team were awesome from beginning to end - from clear details of what was being installed in the quote to how they protected the rest of the house and deck during demolition and installation - they went the extra mile.

They easily dealt with some curveballs we threw to them too. They removed our leaky (and now unused) chimneys above the roofline, giving the home a much cleaner look and installed snow guards.

Doug took time to work through a water egress issue that was not related to the roof installation - including helping me cut drywall open! - determined to find a solution the issue. Which we did.
We also required some more specialized carpentry work. Doug leveraged his own network to get us somebody to complete it.

It's not easy to find a company that that you can trust with such competitive pricing and such high quality craftsmanship on such a project. I feel fortunate to have worked with Doug, Rada and the team at Eco Exteriors.

The metal roof has really given the home a transformative look. And the new gutters were really the cherry on top. My photographs attached don't truly show how transformative it is.

A great team and great company!

We had an amazing experience with this company. We perceive them as honest, objective, and comprehensive in their initial assessment for our roofing project and the range of options they provided. Doug went out of his way to make sure we will make an informed decision and get the best deal. He kept us posted about the timeline. When the project started, it went quite smoothly. The onsite team was professional, on time, responsive to our queries, and very tidy. They would clean up the yard every evening after they were done for the day. They kept us constantly up-to-date about the progress, ran onsite decisions with us, and informed us of the next steps. When they finished, they thoroughly cleaned up. We have a beautiful metal roof now and are very happy with Eco Exteriors for the overall experience. One of the most professional contractors we have ever worked with.

Signs Your Vancouver Roof Needs Attention

Vancouver’s wet winters are unforgiving. A roof that looks fine in August can be actively failing by February. These are the signals that tell us — and should tell you — that something needs to be done:

  • Moss or algae growth: Common on North Shore and Vancouver homes with older asphalt shingles. Moss traps moisture against the surface and can accelerate shingle decay much faster than in drier climates.

  • Water stains on ceilings or walls: Especially after the first heavy rain of the season. In Vancouver, a roof leak rarely announces itself dramatically. It usually appears as a faint stain you keep meaning to look at.

  • Granules in your gutters: Fine black or grey grit that looks like coarse sand. Granule loss means your shingles are past their protective prime.

  • Age: Most asphalt shingle roofs in Greater Vancouver last 18-25 years. If your roof is over 18 years old and has not been assessed, it is worth getting eyes on it before the next rainy season.

  • Curling, cracking, or missing shingles: Especially after the freeze-thaw cycles that hit North Shore elevations harder than the city.

  • Higher heating bills: A deteriorating roof can compromise insulation. If your energy bills have crept up without explanation, your roof may be a factor.

If you’re seeing any of these, call us. We’ll come to your home, assess the roof honestly, and tell you what you actually need — not what gets us the biggest job.

What Is Eco-Friendly Roofing and Why Does It Make Sense in Vancouver?

Vancouver consistently ranks among the most sustainability-conscious cities in North America. It makes sense that the same values homeowners apply to transit, diet, and energy use are increasingly applied to their biggest physical asset — their home.

Eco-friendly roofing isn’t a niche category anymore. It’s a set of materials and practices that reduce environmental impact without compromising performance — and in several cases, they actually outperform conventional options in Vancouver’s climate.

EnviroShake & EnviroSlate

Composite shingles made from 95% post-consumer recycled materials. They replicate the look of cedar shakes and slate, resist rot and insects naturally, and are rated for Vancouver's wind and moisture exposure.

Metal Roofing

100% recyclable, reflects solar heat, and engineered to last a lifetime. Less waste over your home's lifetime than three asphalt shingle replacements.

Western Red Cedar

Sourced from BC suppliers using zero-waste forestry practices. We install only 100% edge-grain cedar for maximum durability and natural rot resistance.

Malarkey Shingles

Smog-eating granules, made with upcycled materials, and treated with Scotchgard protection to reduce algae and moss growth — a significant advantage in Metro Vancouver's damp conditions.

Solar-Ready Roofing

Installations designed from the start to integrate solar panels, with penetrations sealed and positioned correctly before panels go on.

Vancouver Roofing Questions — Answered Honestly

Most residential roof replacements in Greater Vancouver fall between $10,000 and $65,000+, depending on the size of the home, the material selected, and how complex the roof is. Simpler asphalt roofs are usually on the lower end, while premium systems like metal, cedar, or EnviroShake cost more. Lifespan also varies by material, with asphalt typically lasting 18 to 25 years, cedar around 18 to 22 years, EnviroShake 50+ years, and metal often considered a lifetime roof.

For a typical home, an asphalt shingle re-roof usually costs around $10,000 to $25,000. In wetter climates like Greater Vancouver, asphalt shingles generally last about 18 to 25 years, although moss, shade, and poor roof ventilation can shorten that lifespan.

A metal roof usually costs between $25,000 and $65,000+, depending on the type of metal system, the roof size, and installation difficulty. Metal roofing costs more upfront than asphalt, but it offers exceptional durability and is often treated as a lifetime roofing option when properly installed.

Yes, standing seam metal roofing is usually more expensive than standard asphalt roofing because it is a more premium system. In most cases, single-lock standing seam roofs cost around $28,000 to $65,000, while double-lock standing seam roofs range from about $30,000 to $70,000. The tradeoff is longevity, since these roofs are typically considered lifetime systems.

A snap-lock metal roof usually costs around $25,000 to $60,000, depending on the layout of the roof and the details involved. It is a durable long-term option that performs well in wet climates and is generally considered a lifetime roof for many homeowners.

An EnviroShake roof typically costs about $25,000 to $65,000+, although larger or more complex homes can reach $70,000 or more. It is one of the more expensive roofing materials upfront, but it can last 50 years or more, making it appealing for homeowners who want a long-lasting eco-friendly option.

A Western Red Cedar roof usually costs around $30,000 to $70,000+, depending on the size and complexity of the project. Cedar offers a natural high-end appearance, but it also needs proper care. With maintenance, most cedar roofs last around 18 to 22 years.

In most cases, asphalt shingles are the most affordable roof to replace, with typical costs ranging from $10,000 to $25,000. They are popular because they balance cost and performance, although they do not last as long as metal or composite options. In real-world Greater Vancouver conditions, asphalt roofs typically last about 18 to 25 years.

Flat roof replacement costs depend on the material used. A TPO roof usually costs around $15,000 to $40,000 and often lasts 15 to 25 years, while a torch-on roof generally costs around $12,000 to $35,000 and lasts about 10 to 20 years. These systems are common on low-slope and flat roofs where traditional shingles are not suitable.

It can be, especially if you plan to stay in your home long term. Lower-cost options like double-laminated asphalt shingles usually cost $10,000 to $25,000 and last around 18 to 25 years, while triple-laminated architectural shingles cost about $20,000 to $35,000 and can last 25 to 30 years. Premium systems like metal or EnviroShake cost more upfront, but their longer lifespan can make them a better value over time.
