Annual Rainfall on the North Shore
The North Shore Gets More Rain Than You Think — Your Gutters Take All of It
Most homeowners don’t think about gutters until something goes wrong. A stain on the siding. A soggy spot in the basement. A fascia board that’s gone soft and spongy. By the time those signs appear, water has already been working against your home for months.
The North Shore compounds every risk. Lynn Valley, Deep Cove, and Upper Lonsdale sit under heavy tree canopy — cedar needles, maple leaves, and fir debris fill gutter channels with every storm. West Vancouver’s coastal exposure brings salt air that corrodes unprotected aluminum and steel faster than any inland location. The British Properties and Edgemont neighborhoods feature steep-slope roofs that throw enormous volumes of water into gutters designed to handle far gentler flows.
What failing gutters cost North Shore homeowners
- Foundation erosion and moisture intrusion — water pooling against your foundation is the most expensive single item most homeowners never plan for
- Fascia and soffit rot — once the wood behind your gutters gets wet repeatedly, the rot spreads invisibly under your roofline
- Landscaping damage — uncontrolled roof runoff cuts channels through garden beds and saturates soil against your home
- Basement and crawl space flooding — particularly common in older North Vancouver homes where drainage grades weren’t designed for modern rainfall volumes
- Siding staining and damage — overflow sheeting down siding causes streaking, paint failure, and eventually wood or fibre cement deterioration
- Roof edge and shingle damage — backed-up water sitting under your first course of shingles accelerates rot and voiding your roofing warranty
A properly installed, correctly sized gutter system eliminates all of these risks. It’s one of the most practical investments a North Shore homeowner can make.
Gutter Installation and Repair Services — North Vancouver & West Vancouver
Seamless Gutter Installation
The majority of gutter failures happen at joints. Traditional sectional gutters connect at multiple seams — each one a potential leak point that expands with temperature cycling and debris pressure. Seamless gutters eliminate that problem entirely. We fabricate our seamless aluminum gutters on-site using a portable roll-forming machine, cutting each run to the precise length of your roofline. No joints. No seams where debris can catch. No predictable failure points.
Gutter Replacement
If your current gutters are sagging, pulling away from the fascia, chronically overflowing, or showing visible rust and corrosion, they need to come down. We remove old sectional or damaged seamless systems cleanly, inspect the fascia boards underneath (replacing rotted sections as needed), and install a new system sized for your roof’s actual drainage requirements. We don’t upsize unnecessarily — we calculate based on your roof’s square footage, pitch, and local rainfall intensity.
Gutter Repair
Not every gutter problem requires full replacement. We repair isolated leaks, re-slope sagging runs, reseal joints, replace damaged downspout sections, and reattach loose hangers. If your gutters are fundamentally sound but have developed a specific problem, a targeted repair is the right call — and we’ll tell you honestly which situation you’re in.
Downspout Systems
A gutter system is only as good as its downspout layout. We design downspout placement to direct water away from your foundation with appropriate extension and, where needed, underground drainage connections. On steep North Shore lots with complex topography, proper downspout routing makes a significant difference in how effectively water is managed.
Gutter Guards & Debris Protection
Under the tree canopy that defines neighborhoods like Lynn Valley, Deep Cove, and Edgemont, gutters can fill with cedar fronds and leaves in a single storm. We install gutter guard systems that dramatically reduce how often your gutters need cleaning while keeping airflow and water entry unrestricted. We’ll recommend the right system based on your specific debris type — not every guard works equally well in every environment.
Fascia Protection & Repair
We replace rotted or damaged fascia boards before installing new gutters. Installing a gutter system over compromised wood is one of the most common mistakes we see from non-specialist contractors — it shortens the life of the installation dramatically and creates ongoing problems. We handle the full scope so your gutters are attached to sound, protected wood from day one.
The Gutter Systems We Install on North Shore Homes
Seamless Aluminum Gutters
Our most popular system. Custom-formed on-site from heavy-gauge aluminum coil stock, available in a wide range of colours matched to your home’s exterior. We offer four distinct profiles:
Colonial
A classic curved profile with a beaded front edge. Suits heritage and traditional homes throughout Dundarave, Ambleside, and older North Vancouver neighbourhoods.
Crown Fascia
A more architectural profile featuring crown moulding detailing along the front face. Popular on larger custom homes where the gutter becomes part of the exterior design.
Flat Face (K-Style)
A clean, modern profile that integrates flush with the fascia board. The right choice for contemporary West Coast Modern homes and new construction across the North Shore.
Two-Step
A bolder, double-profile design that adds dimensional interest to the roofline. Increasingly popular on architecturally distinctive homes in the British Properties and West Vancouver's upper neighbourhoods.
Euro Half Round Gutters
For homeowners who want a more distinctive aesthetic, we import European half-round gutters in galvanized steel, powder-coated steel, zinc, and copper. The half-round profile offers exceptional flow capacity — ideal for high-rainfall areas — and a timeless look that suits both heritage homes and high-end new construction. Copper half-round gutters, in particular, develop a natural patina over time and are essentially maintenance-free once installed.
Internal Box Gutters
Where your home’s architecture incorporates internal gutters, we have the specialized experience to assess, repair, and replace them correctly. We work with torch-on modified bitumen and rubber membrane systems and can identify failures that aren’t visible from outside the roofline.

What Our Customers Say About Us
We've completed gutter projects across North Vancouver, West Vancouver, and Greater Vancouver. Here's what our customers say.
Fast, responsive and very helpful.
James
Wholeheartedly recommend working with them if you need roofing work.
1. If I was told this, I would have looked at the weather before making the appointment. 2. I called two other roofing companies and both showed up had no problem going on the roof in the rain.
He gets two stars because he actually called to cancel. (The bar is set low with trades these days.)
The affect a new roof has on the curb appeal of your house is enormous, not to mention the comfort you gain knowing that everything is watertight for the oncoming winter - you need the installation done right. Doug, Rada and team were awesome from beginning to end - from clear details of what was being installed in the quote to how they protected the rest of the house and deck during demolition and installation - they went the extra mile.
They easily dealt with some curveballs we threw to them too. They removed our leaky (and now unused) chimneys above the roofline, giving the home a much cleaner look and installed snow guards.
Doug took time to work through a water egress issue that was not related to the roof installation - including helping me cut drywall open! - determined to find a solution the issue. Which we did.
We also required some more specialized carpentry work. Doug leveraged his own network to get us somebody to complete it.
It's not easy to find a company that that you can trust with such competitive pricing and such high quality craftsmanship on such a project. I feel fortunate to have worked with Doug, Rada and the team at Eco Exteriors.
The metal roof has really given the home a transformative look. And the new gutters were really the cherry on top. My photographs attached don't truly show how transformative it is.
A great team and great company!

Gutter Questions — Answered Honestly
Most residential gutter installations on the North Shore fall between $1,500 and $5,000, depending on your home’s size, the gutter profile you choose, and whether any fascia repair is needed before installation. A straightforward seamless aluminum installation on a single-storey home will sit at the lower end. A larger two-storey with multiple downspout runs, fascia board replacement, and a premium profile like copper half-round will sit higher. We provide detailed written estimates with transparent line-item pricing — no vague numbers that change at invoice time.
The four biggest cost variables are: linear footage (how much gutter your roofline requires), profile and material (aluminum seamless vs. copper half-round vs. galvanized steel), fascia condition (rotted boards need to be replaced before gutters go on), and downspout complexity (underground drainage routing or difficult lot topography adds cost). Roof pitch and access also factor in — steep slopes and limited staging areas require more time and equipment.
Seamless gutters cost more upfront than sectional systems, but they last longer, leak less, and require less maintenance — which makes them the more practical choice for North Shore homes. With Vancouver’s rainfall volumes, a sectional system that starts leaking at joints within a few years ends up costing more in repairs and water damage than the price difference at installation.
Minor repairs — resealing a joint, reattaching a loose hanger, patching a small hole — typically run $150 to $400. More involved work like re-sloping a sagging run, replacing a downspout section, or repairing flashing at a gutter connection falls in the $300 to $800 range. If the fascia behind the gutters has rotted and needs replacement before repairs can hold, that adds to the total. We’ll give you a clear picture of what’s needed and what it costs before any work begins.
Gutter guard pricing depends on the type of system and your home’s linear footage. Basic mesh guards typically add $3 to $8 per linear foot. Higher-performance micro-mesh systems designed for fine debris like cedar fronds run higher. For a typical North Shore home with 150–200 linear feet of gutter, expect to budget $600 to $1,800 for guards installed. Whether that investment makes sense depends on your specific tree coverage — we’ll tell you honestly if it does or doesn’t.
Half-round gutters in galvanized or powder-coated steel are moderately more expensive than standard seamless aluminum — typically 20–40% more for materials and installation. Zinc and copper half-round systems are premium products and priced accordingly, but they’re also essentially maintenance-free for decades and age beautifully. If you’re investing in a heritage or high-end custom home on the North Shore, the long-term value is strong.
It depends on how much board needs replacing. A short section of rotted fascia — common where gutters have been overflowing for a season or two — might add $200 to $500 to a project. Extensive rot running the length of a roofline costs more. The important thing is that we flag it before installation, not after. Installing gutters over compromised fascia means they’ll pull away within a year or two — we won’t do that to a customer.
Yes, always. We visit your property, assess your current gutters and fascia, and give you a written estimate with no obligation and no pressure. There’s no meaningful way to quote a gutter project accurately without seeing the roof, the roofline length, and the condition of the fascia — so we don’t try to give you a number over the phone before we’ve looked.
It depends on your tree exposure. Under heavy canopy — cedar, maple, big-leaf — guards are a smart investment that reduces cleaning frequency significantly. On homes with minimal debris exposure, they may not add enough value to justify the cost. We’ll give you an honest assessment based on your specific property.
Yes. We work year-round. We do schedule around heavy rainfall windows where installation quality could be affected, but winter installation is common on the North Shore and we plan accordingly.
