Roofing Services for Dundarave Homeowners
We offer the full range of residential roofing services, from complete roof replacements to targeted repairs and new solar installations. Every service is available to homeowners throughout Dundarave and the surrounding West Vancouver communities.
Roof Replacement
When a roof has reached the end of its service life, we manage the entire replacement process—tear-off, deck inspection, underlayment, new roofing system, and final cleanup. Most residential replacements in Dundarave are completed within two to five days. See our Roof Replacement West Vancouver page for full details.
Roof Repair
Coastal storms, falling branches, and aging flashings are the most common causes of roof damage in Dundarave. We offer prompt repair services for leaks, damaged shingles, failed flashing, and wind damage—often with same-week scheduling. Learn more on our Roof Repair West Vancouver page.
Standing seam metal roofing is one of the best long-term investments available to Dundarave homeowners. It resists salt air, sheds water cleanly, and carries a non-prorated lifetime warranty from Eco Exteriors. We manufacture custom standing seam panels on site, including our proprietary EcoLock concealed-fastener system. Visit our Metal Roofing West Vancouver page for options.
We install premium architectural shingles from Malarkey and CertainTeed, including moss- and algae-resistant lines designed specifically for Pacific Northwest conditions. Asphalt roofing remains the most cost-effective full-replacement option for most Dundarave homes.
Cedar has defined the look of many West Vancouver neighbourhoods for generations. We install and repair both cedar shakes and shingles, and we also offer composite alternatives like EnviroShake for homeowners who want the cedar aesthetic without the intensive maintenance.
Modern homes in Dundarave with low-slope or flat roof sections require waterproof membrane systems engineered for our rainfall levels. We install TPO, torch-on (SBS modified bitumen), EPDM, and peel-and-stick systems, with drainage design built into every project.
Dundarave receives some of the highest annual rainfall in Metro Vancouver. Seamless gutter systems and internal drainage solutions are essential to move water away from foundations, fascia, and roofing membranes. We install and service complete gutter systems for homes throughout the area.
Solar Panel Installation
The federal and provincial solar rebate programs currently offer up to $10,000 for eligible residential solar and battery systems. As roofing and solar specialists, we integrate solar installations with new or existing roofing systems—no seams, no gaps, and no voided warranties.
Skylights
We install Columbia skylights as part of new roof projects or as standalone additions. Proper flashing and weatherproofing around skylights is especially important in a high-moisture environment like Dundarave.
Roofing Challenges in Dundarave
Dundarave presents a specific set of roofing challenges that differ from inland West Vancouver neighbourhoods. Homes here require a higher level of specification and care than the BC average.
Salt-Air Exposure
Properties along Bellevue Avenue and the Dundarave waterfront are exposed to salt-laden air that accelerates corrosion on fasteners, flashings, and metal roofing systems. We use corrosion-resistant materials throughout—stainless or coated fasteners, aluminum or Galvalume panels, and non-reactive flashings—to counteract this effect and extend roof lifespan.
Heavy Rainfall and Moisture
West Vancouver receives among the highest rainfall totals in the Lower Mainland, and Dundarave's waterfront position compounds this with persistent coastal humidity. Moisture management is not optional here—it needs to be engineered into every layer of the roofing system, from deck protection to underlayment to the outer surface and drainage network.
Coastal Storm Protection
Wind-driven rain and seasonal Pacific storms can force water through gaps that would be harmless on a calm-weather roof. We use high-wind-rated materials, enhanced fastening patterns, and sealed flashing details to ensure roofing systems in Dundarave remain watertight under storm conditions.
Aging Roofing Systems
Many of Dundarave's established homes were built with cedar shake or early-generation asphalt roofing that is now approaching or past its service life. If your home is over 20 years old and has never had a major roofing assessment, now is the right time. We offer thorough roof inspections to identify issues before they become interior water damage.
Built for Dundarave Homes
Dundarave is a neighbourhood of distinct property types, from oceanfront estates to modest family homes on quiet residential streets. We have experience working on all of them.
Waterfront Properties
Homes on or near the Dundarave waterfront require corrosion-resistant specifications and careful attention to wind loading. We assess each property individually and recommend roofing systems that meet the specific exposure conditions for that lot—not a one-size-fits-all solution.
Luxury Residences
Custom-built homes in Dundarave often feature complex rooflines, premium material expectations, and architectural details that demand experienced hands. Eco Exteriors handles multi-slope metal and cedar projects regularly, and our on-site panel fabrication capability means we can match custom profiles without compromising quality.
Established Family Homes
Older homes in the Dundarave area may have cedar roofs, original flashings, and decking that has never been fully inspected. We approach every older home with a thorough pre-project assessment to ensure we understand what is beneath the surface before any work begins.
Hillside Homes
Properties above Marine Drive and on Dundarave’s hillside streets often have steep pitches, multiple roof planes, and access challenges. Our team has the equipment and safety training for high-pitch work, and we schedule these projects with the care they require.
Why Homeowners Choose Eco Exteriors Roofing and Solar
Eco Exteriors has a 9.9 out of 10 rating on HomeStars, an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau, and a Google Guaranteed designation. These are not just credentials—they reflect 18 years of doing the work correctly the first time.
Experienced Roofing Professionals
Every Eco Exteriors crew is trained, insured, and registered with WorkSafeBC. Our certifications from CertainTeed, Malarkey, and EnviroShake are earned through training and independent inspections—not purchased. You get a crew that knows the materials they are installing, because they have been certified in them.
Premium Roofing Materials
We work with Malarkey, CertainTeed, EnviroShake, and Columbia Skylights, and we manufacture our own standing seam metal panels on site. Using manufacturer-certified materials from contractors who meet their standards unlocks 50-year prorated warranties from CertainTeed and Malarkey—coverage that generic installers cannot offer.
Transparent Communication
We believe in clear, honest estimates with no hidden fees or surprises. Before any work begins, you will know exactly what is being done, what materials are being used, and what the total cost will be. Our reputation on HomeStars and Google is built on this approach.
Workmanship You Can Trust
In addition to manufacturer warranties, Eco Exteriors provides our own workmanship warranty on every project. We also carry the Google Guarantee, which gives homeowners additional protection and recourse. When we leave your property, the job is done—not almost done.
Our Roofing Process
From the first call to the final walkthrough, we keep the process straightforward and the communication consistent. Here is what working with Eco Exteriors looks like.
Roof Inspection
We begin every project with a thorough inspection of your current roofing system—surface materials, flashings, vents, gutters, and where accessible, the deck below. In Dundarave, we pay particular attention to signs of salt-air corrosion, moisture infiltration, and any areas that have been patched previously.
Recommendations and Planning
Following the inspection, we provide a detailed written estimate that outlines our findings, recommended materials, timeline, and total cost. We explain your options clearly and let you make an informed decision—no pressure, no upselling.
Installation or Repair
Our crews work efficiently and cleanly, keeping the job site tidy and the work on schedule. For replacements, we handle tear-off, deck inspection and repair, underlayment, and full installation in a coordinated sequence. We also coordinate any permit requirements with the District of West Vancouver.
Final Walkthrough
Before we consider any project complete, we walk the property with you, review the work, and confirm that everything meets your expectations and our standards. Warranty documentation is provided before our crew leaves the site.
Local Experience in Dundarave
Our familiarity with Dundarave goes beyond knowing the postal code. We have worked on properties throughout this neighbourhood and understand the specific demands it places on roofing systems.
Bellevue Avenue Properties
Homes along Bellevue Avenue sit closest to the ocean and face the highest salt-air and wind exposure in the neighbourhood. We treat these properties with the highest specification materials and fastening details, and we recommend annual inspections for owners at this exposure level.
Waterfront Homes
Dundarave’s oceanfront properties often combine flat or low-slope sections with steep-pitch rooflines, requiring expertise across multiple roofing systems in a single project. Our team handles mixed-system projects regularly, ensuring that transitions between roofing types are properly detailed and waterproofed.
Hillside Residences
The hillside properties above Dundarave Village tend to collect significant tree debris from the surrounding forest canopy, which accelerates moss growth and gutter blockage. We factor debris management into our maintenance recommendations for these homes and offer gutter systems designed for high-debris environments.
Long-Term Weather Protection
Dundarave homes need roofing systems that are engineered for the long term—not just installed to specification and forgotten. We build maintenance expectations into every project and are available for ongoing inspection and service as your roof ages. Our goal is a relationship, not just a transaction.
What Our Customers Say About Us
We've completed roofing projects across Dundarave. Here's what our customers say.
We chose to go with a metal roof, and I couldn’t be happier with the quality of work and the final results. The craftsmanship is top-notch, and it truly enhances the look of our home. Thank you, thank you!
Fast, responsive and very helpful.
James
Wholeheartedly recommend working with them if you need roofing work.
1. If I was told this, I would have looked at the weather before making the appointment. 2. I called two other roofing companies and both showed up had no problem going on the roof in the rain.
He gets two stars because he actually called to cancel. (The bar is set low with trades these days.)
The affect a new roof has on the curb appeal of your house is enormous, not to mention the comfort you gain knowing that everything is watertight for the oncoming winter - you need the installation done right. Doug, Rada and team were awesome from beginning to end - from clear details of what was being installed in the quote to how they protected the rest of the house and deck during demolition and installation - they went the extra mile.
They easily dealt with some curveballs we threw to them too. They removed our leaky (and now unused) chimneys above the roofline, giving the home a much cleaner look and installed snow guards.
Doug took time to work through a water egress issue that was not related to the roof installation - including helping me cut drywall open! - determined to find a solution the issue. Which we did.
We also required some more specialized carpentry work. Doug leveraged his own network to get us somebody to complete it.
It's not easy to find a company that that you can trust with such competitive pricing and such high quality craftsmanship on such a project. I feel fortunate to have worked with Doug, Rada and the team at Eco Exteriors.
The metal roof has really given the home a transformative look. And the new gutters were really the cherry on top. My photographs attached don't truly show how transformative it is.
A great team and great company!

Roofing Questions — Answered Honestly
Roof replacement costs in Dundarave vary based on size, pitch, material, and access. Asphalt shingle replacements typically range from $9,000 to $20,000 for an average home. Metal roofing generally runs $22,000 to $45,000 depending on the system. Cedar and composite shake roofs fall between $30,000 and $55,000. Waterfront properties with salt-air specifications and complex access may sit at the upper end of these ranges. We provide detailed written estimates before any work begins.
Homes along the Dundarave waterfront should be inspected at least once a year, ideally in the fall before the heavy rain season begins. Salt air and wind-driven rain accelerate wear on flashings, fasteners, and surface coatings more quickly than inland properties experience. Catching small issues early prevents costly water damage and extends the service life of the roofing system.
Metal roofing—particularly standing seam aluminum or steel with PVDF coating—is the most durable long-term choice for Dundarave’s coastal exposure. It sheds water efficiently, resists salt air corrosion, and carries the longest available warranties. For homeowners prioritizing cost or aesthetics, premium asphalt shingles with algae resistance are a strong mid-range option. Cedar shake alternatives like EnviroShake provide the traditional West Vancouver look with significantly less maintenance.
Yes, significantly. Salt air accelerates corrosion on metal flashings, fasteners, and any exposed metal components. It also degrades sealants and protective coatings faster than standard atmospheric conditions. Roofing systems in Dundarave should use corrosion-resistant materials throughout—not just for metal roofs but for all penetrations, flashings, and attachment hardware on any roofing type.
Metal roofing is an excellent choice for waterfront homes in Dundarave when specified correctly. Aluminum and Galvalume steel with high-quality PVDF finishes offer strong resistance to salt-air corrosion, and the interlocking panel systems handle wind-driven rain exceptionally well. Eco Exteriors manufactures custom standing seam panels on site and provides a non-prorated lifetime warranty on our metal roofing systems.
The most effective prevention is regular inspection and maintenance. In Dundarave specifically, keep gutters clear of tree debris, inspect flashing around all penetrations annually, treat for moss before it lifts shingle edges, and address any minor issues promptly before the fall rain season. Coastal properties should also have a professional assess fastener and flashing condition every one to two years, as salt air accelerates the degradation of these components.
In Dundarave, the key warning signs are: shingles that are curling, cracking, or losing granules; moss growth that is lifting shingle edges; interior water stains, especially after heavy rain; visible sagging in the roofline; or a roof that is 20 or more years old and has not had a professional assessment. Flashing failures around chimneys, skylights, and vents are also a common source of leaks in older West Vancouver homes.
Lifespan depends heavily on material choice and maintenance. In Dundarave’s coastal conditions, standard three-tab asphalt shingles rarely exceed 15 to 18 years. Premium architectural asphalt shingles can reach 20 to 25 years with proper maintenance. Metal roofing typically lasts 40 to 70 years. Cedar shakes last 20 to 30 years with regular treatment, and composite alternatives like EnviroShake are warranted for 50 years. Consistent maintenance and prompt repairs extend every material’s service life.
Look for contractors with verifiable local credentials—BBB accreditation, WorkSafeBC registration, and manufacturer certifications like CertainTeed ShingleMaster or Malarkey Certified Pro. In Dundarave specifically, you want a contractor with demonstrated experience on coastal properties, not just general Metro Vancouver roofing work. Eco Exteriors has served the North Shore since 2008, holds an A+ BBB rating, a 9.9/10 on HomeStars, and is Google Guaranteed—all independently verified.
Yes. The District of West Vancouver requires a building permit for full roof replacements. Your roofing contractor should handle the permit application as part of the project—if a contractor suggests skipping permits, that is a red flag. Eco Exteriors manages all required permit coordination with the District of West Vancouver on every replacement project, ensuring the work is inspected and compliant with current BC Building Code requirements.
